Rx Dispenser
A locking prescription dispenser with a smart interface that automates dosage reminders, tracks consumption, and prevents unauthorized access — designed to reduce medication errors and prescription misuse.
The Challenge
Medication dispensing errors are one of the leading causes of preventable harm in healthcare settings. Most existing dispensers require manual processes prone to misidentification and miscount — a problem with serious clinical consequences.
Design Concept
Designed a compact automated dispenser with barcode-verified dispensing, integrated logging, and a clear user interface that communicates medication identity and dose status before dispensing.
Prototyping
Built a functional prototype to validate the dispensing mechanism, verify accuracy across common medication formats (tablets, capsules), and test the UI feedback loop under realistic dispensing conditions.
Outcome
A working prototype demonstrating reliable, verified dispensing with clear error handling — validating the core interaction model for further development.
